Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old man alleged to be an ammunition supplier to bandit groups operating in Zamfara State.
The police said suspect, identified as Ahmed Abubakar from Gusau, Zamfara State, residing in Anguwan Dodo, Gwagwalada, was apprehended at about 3:30 p.m. on December 7, 2025, following a coordinated intelligence-driven operation by the Command’s Tactical Team.
A statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, on Wednesday in Abuja, said preliminary investigations revealed that Abubakar was in contact with an associate, Yusuf Mohammed, over plans to procure 1,000 rounds of ammunition for onward delivery to criminal elements in Zamfara.
Adeh said that further findings linked the operation to his uncle, one Ahmed Yakubu, who is believed to be a key accomplice and is currently on the run.
The police said the suspect is in custody and that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing accomplice and dismantle the wider criminal network involved in supplying arms to bandits.
The FCT Police Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining operational pressure on criminal groups and ensuring the safety of residents.
The Command also urged members of the public to report suspicious activities through its emergency lines: 0803 200 3913, 0806 158 1938, and 0902 222 2352.
