Don’t abandon your service year for anything, NYSC DG tells corps members
Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu

Olakunle Nafiu, director general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has urged corps members “not to abandon their national service for any reason”.

In a statement, Caroline Embu, the NYSC spokesperson, said the DG addressed the 2026 ‘Batch A Stream One’ corps members at the orientation camps in Ogun and Oyo states.

Nafiu reiterated the purpose of the scheme and the role corps members play in the country’s socio-economic development.

He commended them for heeding the clarion call, advising corps members to ensure prudent financial management to help them during and after service year.

The DG urged them to appreciate and respect the cultures and traditions of their host communities, and be of good conduct at all times.

“When you are posted to your place of primary assignment, respect their rules, be punctual, be resourceful and learn the culture of the organisation you are posted to,” he said.

Olayinka Nasamu, the NYSC Ogun state coordinator, shared that 3,341 corps members, including 975 originally deployed in Lagos state, were registered in the camp.

Nasamu added that the graduates conducted themselves responsibly and adapted to the regimented camp life.

“All camp officials are also performing their duties diligently with high sense of synergy,” she said.

Kayode Ola-Peters, the Oyo state coordinator, said the 3,068 registered members demonstrated commendable character and participated actively in camp activities.
