Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State on Friday, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that significantly reshapes Nigeria’s political landscape.
In a statewide broadcast, Fintiri announced that he joined the party alongside members of his cabinet and officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, describing the decision as being in the developmental interest of Adamawa residents.
With Adamawa’s shift, APC-controlled states now rise to 30 out of Nigeria’s 36 states, while the PDP’s control narrows to Oyo, Bauchi and Zamfara.
On the other hand, Anambra State remains under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia State is governed by the Labour Party, and Osun State is controlled by the Accord Party.
