Awunah picks forms for Benue zone B senate race

Hon. Chief Dave Padopads Awunah has picked his expression of interest and nomination forms for the Benue North-West Senatorial District seat, signalling his readiness to contest the 2027 election.

Awunah’s move has stirred excitement among supporters and political stakeholders across Zone B, who described his ambition as a fresh opportunity for quality representation.

Some of his backers said the development marked the beginning of people-focused leadership and stronger advocacy for the district at the National Assembly.

A supporter, who spoke during the exercise, said Awunah remained a credible figure with the capacity to protect the interests of the people.

He said, “This is the kind of leadership Zone B has been waiting for. We need someone who understands the people and can speak for them.”

The political atmosphere in Benue has also seen growing mobilisation for Governor Hyacinth Alia ahead of the 2027 governorship poll.

Supporters of the governor expressed confidence in his administration, insisting that continuity would help sustain ongoing reforms and development programmes in the state.

They maintained that Awunah’s senatorial ambition and Alia’s expected re-election bid reflected a wider push for stability and progress in Benue politics.

At the national level, loyalists of President Bola Tinubu are also said to be rallying support for his second term bid in line with the Renewed Hope agenda.
