The African Democratic Congress has faulted a recent meeting between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and some persons claiming to be Adamawa ADC stakeholders, describing it as illegitimate and politically motivated.

In a statement on Monday by its Director of Media and Public Affairs, Dr Christopher Okechuk, the party’s national leadership said the gathering was a sham, insisting it neither had its backing nor represented the interests of the ADC in Adamawa State.

Okechuk alleged that the meeting was “a desperate attempt to create the illusion of legitimacy and support,” warning that the party would not tolerate attempts by political opportunists to mislead the public.

He said, “A closer look at the attendees reveals that many are former members of the APC and PDP who abandoned their parties due to perceived irrelevance. Their sudden emergence as ADC stakeholders raises questions about their motives.”

The ADC spokesman urged Nigerians and political observers to examine such developments critically, stressing the need for transparency and due process in all political alliances.

“This gathering was nothing more than a publicity stunt. The purpose and outcome remain unclear, and it offers no tangible benefit to the ADC,” Okechuk stated.

He added that the party’s leadership viewed the meeting as a calculated move to manipulate public perception and falsely project support for Atiku within the ADC.

“We call on the public to remain vigilant and demand accountability from those seeking to exploit the ADC’s platform for personal or political gain,” the statement concluded.
