The FCT Police Command have arrested twelve suspects in connection with the robbery that led to the tragic deaths of ARISE News anchor Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu and security guard Barnabas Danlami at Unique Apartment, Katampe District on September 29.
The Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Godfrey, acting on digital and forensic intelligence provided by Giga Forensics, successfully apprehended the armed robbery gang. During interrogation, one suspect confessed to shooting the security guard when he tried to prevent them from gaining access, while another admitted attempting to hold Sommie as she fell from the three-storey building. Four suspects were initially apprehended through tracking of stolen phones from the apartment. Each of the arrested suspects received N200,000 from the crime proceeds.
Police recovered exhibits including one fabricated AK-47 rifle, thirty-six rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition; one locally made pistol; one pump-action gun, two live cartridges, four mobile phones belonging to the victims, two sharp knives, one cutlass, and nine torches used during the operation.
