The National Leader of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Chike Okogwu, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give greater attention to addressing the country’s economic and social challenges.
Dr. Okogwu made the call in a statement on Saturday while reacting to President Tinubu’s recent comments on political competition.
He said the government’s priority should be tackling issues affecting the daily lives of Nigerians, including inflation, unemployment, insecurity and the rising cost of living.
He also highlighted the challenges facing PWDs, including limited access to healthcare, education, transportation, employment and other public services.
He urged government at all levels to fully implement the Disability Act and promote policies that encourage inclusion and equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities.
Dr. Okogwu said the ADC supports policies that promote accessible infrastructure, quality education, improved healthcare, employment opportunities and greater participation of PWDs in governance.
He added that leaders would be remembered for improving the lives of citizens, strengthening institutions and promoting national unity.
