The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has said the Dangote Group’s Initial Public Offering will strengthen Nigeria’s capital market and boost investor confidence in the economy.
Badejo-Okusanya, in a statement, congratulated the Dangote Group on the IPO, saying sustained private-sector investment, enterprise and job creation were critical to Nigeria’s economic development.
The NBA president commended the group for its contribution to the country’s productive capacity and urged greater support for businesses willing to invest for the long term.
She said Nigeria’s economic transformation could not be driven by government alone.
“Nigeria’s economic transformation will not be driven by government alone.
“It requires businesses willing to invest, innovate, create jobs and build for the future,” she said.
Badejo-Okusanya said the legal profession had an important role to play in creating an environment where businesses and investors could operate with confidence.
“Our role as lawyers is to help create and sustain the legal and institutional environment in which such enterprise can thrive,” she stated.
She reaffirmed the NBA’s commitment to promoting the rule of law and an enabling business environment.
According to her, a predictable regulatory environment was necessary to encourage legitimate investment and protect commercial interests.
The NBA president said lawyers could support economic growth by providing sound legal frameworks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
She congratulated the management, employees, investors and other stakeholders of the Dangote Group.
Badejo-Okusanya wished the company continued success in its contribution to Nigeria’s industrial and economic development.
