Former Chief of Staff to the former Governor of Imo State and President of the Ugwumba Leadership Centre for Africa, Hon. Uche Nwosu, has received an international leadership award from the City of East Orange, New Jersey, United States.
The award is in recognition of his contributions to leadership and human capacity development.
Nwosu was honoured during an official meeting with the Mayor of East Orange, Ted Green, where both parties also initiated a strategic partnership between the City of East Orange and the Ugwumba Centre in Imo State, Nigeria.
The partnership, which will be coordinated by the Ugwumba Centre for Leadership, is expected to focus on leadership development, human capacity building and sustainable community advancement through knowledge exchange and collaborative programmes.
Speaking after the meeting, Nwosu described the engagement as a significant step towards fostering stronger international cooperation and creating opportunities that would benefit communities in both Nigeria and the United States.
He expressed gratitude to the City of East Orange for conferring on him the Award for Outstanding Leadership and Human Capacity Development.
He added that he was also decorated with the city’s official pin by Mayor Green.
“I am deeply humbled by this recognition and the warm hospitality extended to my team. This honour reinforces our commitment to building leaders, empowering people and creating sustainable opportunities for development,” Nwosu said.
According to him, the new partnership would serve as a platform for promoting innovation, leadership training and community-focused initiatives capable of delivering long-term socio-economic benefits.
Nwosu also acknowledged members of his delegation, including Engr. Kings Umege, Hon. Chief Sir Engr. Ewhoma Tony Okpokparoro (Oilmoney), Prince Anozie Ugenyi and Engr. Kizito Umege, for their support during the visit.
He noted that the collaboration represents a shared commitment to strengthening ties between both communities and advancing initiatives that will positively impact future generations.
