Presidency Quashes Rumours of Gbajabiamila’s Sack As Chief Of Staff

By Yusuf Danjuma Yunusa, Abuja

The Presidency on Thursday dismissed viral claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The denial was contained in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga described the report circulating on social media as false and misleading, saying it was aimed at creating confusion within the government.

“The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to a viral falsehood suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with his Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola,” the statement read.

He clarified that both officials remain in their respective positions and continue to perform their assigned duties.

“The Chief of Staff remains in his position. The Principal Private Secretary likewise remains in his role. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has not replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff,” the Presidency stated.

The statement described the claim as the handiwork of mischief-makers seeking to sow disharmony within the Tinubu administration.

It also urged media organisations and members of the public to verify information properly before publication, warning that the spread of unverified reports fuels fake news.
