Enitonna High School Alumni to unveil devt masterplan May 3 in Port Harcourt

The National Executive of the Enitonna High School Alumni Association, has announced the official unveiling of the school’s Strategic Development Masterplan at a special Presidential Luncheon at the Enitonna High School Chapel, Borokiri, Port Harcourt.

The historic occasion marks a defining moment in the continued growth of one of Nigeria’s most respected educational institutions.

Established in 1932, Enitonna High School, Port Harcourt, remains the oldest secondary school in the old Rivers/Bayelsa States, with a proud legacy of academic excellence, discipline, leadership, and service to humanity.

The Strategic Development Masterplan is a bold and forward-looking blueprint designed to reposition the institution for the future. It outlines key priorities in infrastructure renewal, academic advancement, digital transformation, student welfare, institutional sustainability, alumni engagement, and global competitiveness.

Speaking ahead of the event, the National President of the Association, Sir Godfrey Ohuabunwa described the initiative as a collective commitment by alumni and stakeholders to preserve the heritage of the school while preparing it for future generations.

“This is more than the unveiling of a development plan. It is a reaffirmation of our commitment to the rebirth, growth, and long-term advancement of our alma mater.

Enitonna High School has produced generations of leaders, professionals, and nation builders. It is now our responsibility to give back meaningfully,” he said.

The Presidential Luncheon is expected to attract distinguished alumni, traditional rulers, community leaders, education stakeholders, captains of industry, and friends of the institution from across Nigeria and beyond.

The event theme, “Uniting Our Past, Building Our Future,” reflects the enduring bond of the alumni community and the vision driving the new masterplan.

Celebrating a Proud Legacy of Excellence:
As part of the occasion, the Association will also celebrate the remarkable heritage of Enitonna High School and honour the lives and achievements of distinguished personalities who have contributed to its enduring reputation.

Founded on May 2, 1932, by the visionary missionary and educationist Reverend Lionel Randall Potts-Johnson, the school has remained a beacon of scholarship, discipline, and social progress for over nine decades.

Among its illustrious alumni is Rt. Hon. Austin Adiele Opara (OFR), former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, whose service to democratic governance and national development continues to inspire younger generations.

Also worthy of recognition is Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, PhD, accomplished politician, businessman, and public servant, whose distinguished contributions span the National Assembly, ECOWAS Parliament, and higher education governance.

These eminent personalities exemplify the values of leadership, integrity, and excellence that define the Enitonna High School tradition.
