Media Trust Group, publishers of Daily Trust, will on October 22 launch a converged digital newsroom integrating its print, television, radio and online platforms to improve news production and distribution.
The initiative will bring together editorial operations across Daily Trust, Trust TV, Trust Radio, Aminiya and Digital Trust, enabling journalists to share resources, coordinate coverage and deliver news across multiple platforms.
The technology-driven newsroom will deploy artificial intelligence tools to support editorial workflows, content production, news distribution and audience analysis.
However, the group said editorial judgement, verification and accountability would remain the responsibility of journalists.
Speaking ahead of the launch, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed I. Shekarau, described the initiative as a strategic move to build a more connected, responsive and sustainable media organisation.
“The future of the media lies in our ability to understand and serve our audiences better,” Shekarau said.
He said the integration would strengthen the organisation’s capacity to deliver credible journalism, respond to changing audience needs and make its content more accessible across different channels.
“This is an investment in the future of the Media Trust Group, positioning us to take advantage of technological innovation, deepen our relationship with audiences and create greater value for our commercial partners,” he added.
The Group Editorial Director and Editor-in-Chief, Ibrahim Shehu Adamu, said the initiative would improve collaboration among journalists and editors while strengthening storytelling across print, broadcast and digital platforms.
“Our audiences do not consume news in the same way or on the same platform. Our responsibility is to meet them where they are, with credible, relevant and engaging journalism,” Adamu said.
He said artificial intelligence-powered tools would help streamline newsroom processes, improve efficiency and enable journalists to respond faster to developing stories.
Adamu, however, stressed that the adoption of technology would not compromise the organisation’s commitment to accuracy, editorial independence and public-interest journalism.
For audiences, the converged newsroom is expected to provide more coordinated coverage, multimedia storytelling and easier access to news, analysis, interviews, videos and audio content.
The group also said the integration would create opportunities for advertisers to run coordinated campaigns across newspapers, television, radio and digital platforms.
It added that the initiative formed part of its broader strategy to build a digitally driven, audience-focused and commercially sustainable media organisation amid changing patterns of news consumption.
