The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has congratulated Barrister Hassan Taiwo Fajimite on his emergence as the President of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN).
MMPN National President, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, on Monday, in a statement, said that the new MULAN President’s election is a clear testament to the confidence reposed in his leadership acumen, integrity, professional competence, unwavering commitment to the advancement of justice and equity, the legal profession, and the ideals of Islam.
Fajimite served as the lead counsel representing MULAN at the Supreme Court, securing the legal right of female Muslim students to wear the hijab in public schools.
“MMPN believes that your wealth of experience and exemplary record of service have adequately prepared you for this important responsibility. We are confident that under your leadership, MULAN will continue to strengthen its role in promoting the rule of law, safeguarding fundamental human rights, advancing legal scholarship, and contributing meaningfully to national development and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
“MMPN also expressed confidence that under your leadership, MULAN will continue to serve as a beacon of legal excellence, promoting fairness and the rule of law while fostering unity among legal practitioners in Nigeria,” Balogun said.
The association, however, charged Fajimite to focus on the empowerment of young lawyers, protection of the rights of the Muslim community and strengthening of collaboration between MULAN and other professional bodies.
He said, “As media professionals committed to truth, fairness, and responsible journalism, we look forward to enhanced collaboration between MMPN and MULAN in promoting justice, protecting the rights of Nigerians, combating misinformation, and projecting the true image of Islam through lawful advocacy and effective public engagement.
“As media practitioners, we pledge our unwavering support to ensure that the activities and programs of MULAN under your leadership receive the necessary visibility and public engagement. We also commend the outgoing leadership of MULAN for its contributions to the growth and consolidation of the Association and pray that the new administration builds upon these achievements.”
He prayed to Allah to grant the new MULAN President and his executive committee the wherewithal required to successfully discharge the enormous responsibilities of their new offices, as well as unity, progress, professional excellence and lasting accomplishments for MULAN, the legal profession and the nation at large.
