Yoruba leaders and newly inaugurated executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 62 wards across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 elections.
This is contained in a communique of a high-level interactive session convened by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), Chief Dr. Abiodun Essiet, and the Mandate Secretary, FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, Hon. Dr. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi.
The meeting unanimously reaffirmed unwavering support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledged continued commitment to promoting and deepening the Renewed Hope Agenda across all districts, wards and communities in the Federal Capital Territory.
Participants also resolved to intensify mobilisation efforts in support of the administration’s programmes and to work collectively towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in January 2027.
The meeting urged Yoruba residents in Abuja to take greater ownership of political participation and actively promote government policies and achievements at the grassroots.
Participants agreed that no one should remain indifferent to politics when good governance and collective progress are at stake, stressing that community engagement must become a shared responsibility.
The meeting reviewed the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) presented by each Area Council and agreed to use the submissions as a framework for strengthening party structures, improving electoral strategy and addressing challenges confronting the party at ward and council levels.
It was further resolved that the recommendations arising from the exercise should form part of an ongoing strategic roadmap for future electoral victories.
The meeting acknowledged the significant electoral contributions of Yoruba residents in Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Bwari and Abuja Municipal Area Councils, particularly their role in voter’s sensitizations, mobilisation, campaign support and voter canvassing during recent elections.
The forum commended the commitment, sacrifices and political investments of Yoruba stakeholders across the FCT and called for sustained unity to consolidate these gains.
Participants unanimously called for greater inclusion of Yoruba residents in appointments and governance structures at Area Council and territorial levels, stressing that communities which have contributed substantially to electoral success deserve fair political representation.
The meeting noted that inclusion strengthens loyalty, promotes stability and deepens democratic participation.
The forum urged government and party leaders at all levels to ensure increased delivery of palliatives, social interventions and other dividends of democracy to residents, noting that tangible benefits of governance remain critical to strengthening public confidence and voter enthusiasm.
Participants observed that rewarding grassroots support with dividends of democracy would further consolidate support for the party.
The meeting strongly cautioned against divisive tendencies and internal rancour capable of weakening Yoruba political strength in the FCT.
Participants resolved to promote reconciliation, mutual respect and loyalty to party leadership, while urging members across the six Area Councils to place collective interest above personal ambition.
Special emphasis was placed on healing grievances arising from past primaries in Bwari Area Council and the need to foster unity among Yoruba as a condition for political advancement.
The forum applauded emerging Yoruba political office holders and party executives across the FCT, particularly those who secured victories and appointments at ward and council levels, describing their emergence as evidence of growing political relevance and collective progress.
Participants also commended community leaders and stakeholders who continue to support party structures with personal resources and commitment.
The meeting resolved that this engagement should not be a one-off event but a continuous consultative platform for dialogue, strategy, review and political coordination among Yoruba stakeholders and party leadership.
Periodic meetings, follow-up consultations and coordinated mobilisation structures were proposed and adopted.
